The ENDB specimen was selected for this study in the pure mode III fracture test. This decision was made because the ANDB specimen is more challenging to process and operate than both the ENDB and ENDC specimens. Additionally, during pure mode III loading conditions, the T-stress in ENDC specimens becomes negative, which increases the fracture toughness magnitude compared to that of ENDB specimens.
Improvements:
- Rearrange sentences for clarity by starting with the topic at hand.
- Add a reason why ANDB specimens are difficult to process and operate.
- Explain how ENDC’s negative T-stress relates to fracture toughness and clarify sentence structure.
- Improve cohesion with an introductory sentence at beginning of paragraph for context.
