Living in the ivory tower, young students lead a far from carefree life. As they navigate through the confusion of choosing useful courses, they strive to improve their grade point average. They may also harbor dissatisfaction with the evaluation process while hoping for satisfactory results. Despite achieving high scores in last-minute cramming sessions during final exams, they cannot conceal their underlying loneliness.

However, once these students step out of the campus bubble, they often encounter various challenges and setbacks in the real world. On one hand, many college graduates struggle to find suitable employment for an extended period after graduation. On the other hand, the labor market continually faces a shortage of highly qualified and skilled individuals. This disparity between what students learn in college and practical job requirements creates structural conflicts in employment.

In essence, life can be compared to running a business: selling fake or inferior products will eventually attract trouble, and solely focusing on short-term interests may result in greater losses over time. Diligence and integrity form the most valuable assets for individuals; possessing these qualities allows one’s true worth to shine through. Therefore, it is crucial to adhere to basic principles of being human and adopt correct approaches to living. Perhaps an ideal approach involves working hard and being optimistic during youth while exhibiting prudence and caution in middle age – pursuing success with humility towards society. By doing so, individuals can set lofty goals, cultivate virtues, develop talent, and embrace significant responsibilities while upholding political integrity, professional ethics, social morality, and family values.

Confucius once said: “Do not worry about lacking position but rather about how to establish yourself. Do not worry about being unknown to others; strive to be known.” Employing deceitful tactics or deluding oneself will inevitably lead to dire consequences. Considering the trend of AI’s increasing influence on society, should we prioritize effectively improving our listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills when studying English courses with practical applications, rather than solely focusing on passing exams?

The issue of “involution” has persisted since ancient times. As early as 2200 years ago, Han Feizi wrote: “Therefore, in a situation where the population is large and wealth is scarce, people compete due to heavy workloads and meager means of support. Even with repeated rewards and punishments, chaos cannot be avoided.” According to official statistics, there will be a total of 11.58 million college graduates nationwide in 2023, the highest number in a decade, representing a year-on-year increase of up to 820,000.

So how can we seek breakthroughs? Firstly, college students must bid farewell to idleness and strive not to be easily replaceable in the future job market. Secondly, universities should enhance their awareness of educational services and keep up with the changing times by making their educational offerings highly sought-after in the job market. Lastly, as the world becomes increasingly interconnected yet cold-hearted at times, the international community should remember its initial intent – seeking the well-being of people. To create more employment opportunities, countries need to let bygones be bygones and foster a harmonious environment conducive to win-win cooperation.
